सच्चा मित्र और जंगल का भालू

एक सुंदर गाँव में रोहन और सोहन नाम के दो गहरे मित्र रहते थे। वे दोनों बचपन से एक साथ खेलते, पढ़ते और एक-दूसरे के सुख-दुख साझा करते थे। गाँव के लोग उनकी मित्रता की मिसाल दिया करते थे।

In a charming village lived two inseparable friends, Rohan and Sohan. Since childhood, they studied together, played together, and shared every joyful moment and sorrow.

एक दिन उन्हें किसी आवश्यक कार्य से पास के नगर जाना पड़ा। नगर जाने का मार्ग एक घने और निर्जन वन से होकर गुजरता था। वन में प्रवेश करने से पहले दोनों ने एक-दूसरे का हाथ थामकर वचन दिया—"चाहे कोई भी संकट आए, हम एक-दूसरे का साथ कभी नहीं छोड़ेंगे।"

One morning, they had to journey through a dense forest to reach the neighboring town. Before stepping into the shadowy woods, they held hands and pledged, "Whatever danger strikes, we shall stand together."

जंगल के बीच पहुँचते ही झाड़ियों में से एक विशाल भालू अचानक उनके सामने आ गया। भालू को देखते ही सोहन डर के मारे काँपने लगा और उसने अपने वचन की परवाह किए बिना तुरंत पास के एक ऊँचे पेड़ पर चढ़ना शुरू कर दिया। उसने रोहन के बारे में एक पल भी नहीं सोचा।

As they ventured deeper, dry twigs snapped and an enormous black bear emerged from the thickets. Panicking and forgetting his solemn vow, Sohan scrambled up a tall tree without looking back.

रोहन को पेड़ पर चढ़ना नहीं आता था। परंतु उसने अपनी बुद्धि से काम लिया। उसने सुना था कि भालू मृत शरीर को नुकसान नहीं पहुँचाता। उसने तुरंत अपनी साँसें रोक लीं और जमीन पर निष्प्राण होकर लेट गया।

Rohan did not know how to climb trees. But staying calm, he recalled that bears rarely harm lifeless bodies. He dropped quietly onto the earth and held his breath as still as stone.

भालू रोहन के पास आया। उसने उसके कान, नाक और चेहरे को सूंघा। रोहन बिल्कुल स्थिर रहा। भालू उसे मृत समझकर चुपचाप घने जंगल में आगे बढ़ गया।

The bear lumbered over and snuffled around Rohan’s ears and face. Finding no breath, the beast assumed he was lifeless and drifted away into the shadowy wilderness.

भालू के चले जाने के बाद सोहन पेड़ से नीचे उतरा और मुस्कुराते हुए पूछा, "मित्र! भालू तुम्हारे कान में क्या फुसफुसा रहा था?" रोहन ने शांत स्वर में उत्तर दिया, "भालू ने मुझसे कहा कि जो संकट के समय अपने मित्र को अकेला छोड़ दे, उस पर कभी विश्वास मत करना।"

Once the danger vanished, Sohan slid down the trunk and joked sheepishly, "What secret did that beast whisper in your ear?" Rohan answered gently, "The bear whispered: Never trust someone who abandons you in your hour of peril."
