🌟 Moral of the Story
"Listening to the reasons behind a request can reveal solutions that are not obvious at first."

Naina had brought a small sketchbook for the train journey. She hoped to draw bridges, fields, and stations from a window seat. When she boarded, Dev was standing nearby and looking for the same seat. He explained that watching the horizon often helped him feel steadier when travelling.

Naina felt disappointed. She had planned the drawings all week and thought Dev was asking simply because he wanted the better seat. Before arguing, she asked him what usually helped. Dev explained that he sometimes felt nauseated and that looking outside could help him manage it, though it did not always work.

They considered the journey length and agreed that Dev would sit by the window for the first part. Later, they would check how he felt. If he was comfortable enough, they could switch seats so Naina could sketch. Dev also offered to point out landmarks from his seat, and Naina showed him the pages she hoped to fill.

They did switch for part of the ride, and when Dev began to feel unwell again, Naina offered the window seat back without making him feel guilty. The conversation did not produce a perfect rule for every situation; it gave them a way to keep checking in and adjusting fairly. Both learned that a request can have a reason you cannot see at first. Listening does not mean every request must be granted exactly as made, but it can reveal thoughtful options.
