🌟 Moral of the Story
"Never let shallow pride cloud your judgment. True strength reveals itself not through loud boasts, but through calm endurance and quiet humility."

Along the azure shores of the southern sea lay a bustling and prosperous coastal town. Near the beach stood a venerable peepal tree whose sprawling boughs sheltered birds of every plumage. Among them nested a crow who had grown exceedingly plump feeding upon sweet offerings, ghee-soaked pancakes, and discarded feasts left by wealthy pilgrims. Nourished without toil, a poisonous pride took root in the crow’s heart. He convinced himself that he was the most agile, clever, and magnificent flyer in all of creation, spending his days mocking the smaller birds and boasting of his clumsy aerial tricks.

One radiant autumn morning, a flock of majestic royal swans (Rajhansas) migrating from distant high lakes alighted gently on the shoreline to rest. With feathers pristine as snow, noble postures, and serene grace, they captivated all the forest dwellers who gathered to admire their elegance. Consumed with petty jealousy, the crow strutted over, puffed up his chest, and cawed derisively: 'Hey there, you clumsy white geese! You merely float upon water like fallen leaves! Do any of you possess the courage to contest with me in the sky? I have mastered one hundred and one aerial acrobatics—flying backward, spinning like tops, and diving through gales! What can heavy birds like you ever match against my genius?'

From the flock, an elder, calm royal swan looked up with a gentle smile and replied: 'Brother crow, we are simple water wanderers. We know none of your dizzying aerial stunts. We practice only one manner of flight handed down by our ancestors—flying straight, steady, and unwearied across great horizons.' The crow burst into arrogant laughter: 'Hahaha! Just one flight? What a pitiful excuse! If you have any backbone, fly with me across this boundless ocean and see who reigns supreme!' To humble the bird's corrosive vanity and awaken him to reality, the noble swan quietly accepted the wager.

The contest commenced. Both birds took wing over the glistening sea. The crow immediately began exhibiting his frantic tricks—tumbling upside down, cutting sharp zigzags, diving toward the waves, and shooting skyward with shrill shrieks, mocking the steady bird beside him. The swan, however, merely spread his expansive white wings and glided forward with rhythmic, effortless strokes, maintaining a calm, unvarying pace. Within an hour, the green coastline, palm groves, temples, and hills faded beneath the horizon. Soon, nothing lay in sight but boundless, surging ocean waters churning beneath an open sky, without a single rock or twig to rest upon.

Soon, exhaustion gripped the foolish crow. His useless acrobatics had squandered all his stamina in the early miles. His wings felt as heavy as lead, his lungs burned, and his vision blurred with terror. Out in the vast deep, there was neither tree nor sanctuary. Whenever he dipped downward to catch his breath, salty foam drenched his feathers, dragging him closer to the crests where giant fish and sharks circled with gaping jaws. The crow’s boastful beak hung open, gasping in panic. His arrogant swagger had vanished into thin air, and cold mortality stared him in the face.

Glancing back, the royal swan saw the crow fluttering feebly upon the crest of a wave, on the verge of drowning. In the swan's noble heart, there was no spite, no mockery, and no malice—only boundless compassion. Banking gracefully, the swan swooped down, caught the shivering crow upon his broad, feathered back, and bore him safely upward. Gliding across the azure sky, the swan carried the exhausted boaster all the way back to the coastal peepal tree. Shamed and weeping with gratitude, the crow bowed low. The swan spoke softly: 'Brother, shallow tricks may dazzle the shore, but traversing the wide ocean requires endurance, quiet discipline, and humility.' From that day forth, the crow renounced arrogance forever. This tale reminds children that hollow bragging brings only peril and embarrassment; true excellence shines through quiet perseverance and gracious humility.
