🌟 Moral of the Story
"Unity and coordination can help a group escape a difficult situation."

Above the emerald slopes of the Vindhya range, a magnificent flock of wild pigeons wheeled through the morning skies. Leading this great company was Chitragriva, an elderly, deeply wise king revered for his far-sighted judgment and paternal care for his flock. As autumn thinned the mountain canopies, wild seed became scarce, compelling the flock to fly across vast distances. Among them, younger birds fluttered with drooping pinions, exhausted by hours of relentless flight and hollowed by famished bellies.

Suddenly, an exuberant young bird spotted a clearing below where pristine grains of white rice lay abundantly strewn over the green turf. At this sight, the hungry flock gasped with eager longing, crying out to descend immediately and feast. But King Chitragriva spread his wings wide, holding them aloft, and warned in a commanding voice: 'Halt, my kin! Exercise caution. In this uninhabited wilderness, barren of human dwellings, whence came such a bounty of polished rice? This is no act of divine providence, but the deceitful snare of a fowler. Desires ignited by unchecked greed lead straight into the jaws of destruction.'

However, a brash and impulsive youngster sneered, 'The elderly see shadows in broad daylight and conjure perils out of mere shadows! If we hesitate before every meal out of excessive caution, starvation will claim us long before any fowler does.' Swayed by this reckless defiance and blinded by craving, the flock ignored their monarch's solemn warning and plummeted toward the earth. No sooner had their beaks pecked the grains than fine, unbreakable threads tightened around their claws. Within moments, the entire flock was hopelessly ensnared. From behind a thicket emerged an intimidating fowler, swinging a heavy cudgel and advancing with sinister triumph.

Faced with imminent slaughter, the pigeons shrieked in horror, hysterically turning their rage on the rash bird who had urged them downward. Chaos and recrimination fractured the flock. Even in this deadly hour, King Chitragriva retained absolute composure. Projecting his commanding voice across the net, he declared: 'Silence your weeping and cease blaming one another! Pointless accusations will not blunt the hunter's club. Individually, our strength is fragile; but united in single purpose, no earthly cord can bind our collective power. Listen to my command! The instant I give the sign, beat your wings in absolute synchrony toward the heights, and carry the entire trap aloft!'

At Chitragriva’s resonant signal, every bird strained its sinews and beat its wings in flawless, rhythmic unison. The sheer physics of their synchronized momentum wrenched the heavy wooden pegs from the earth, and the net surged into the air like a winged tent. The hunter stopped dead in his tracks, his jaw dropping in disbelief as his prize soared skyward into the firmament. He pursued them across the ridges, but the united flock climbed steadily until they dissolved into the horizon. Chitragriva steered the airborne flock toward a sanctuary along the Gandaki river, the domain of his dearest confidant, Hiranyaka the mouse-king.

Landing softly upon the knoll, Chitragriva called out for Hiranyaka. Recognizing his comrade's voice, the wise mouse emerged from his subterranean fortress, dumbfounded by the sight of an airborne net encasing an entire flock. Hiranyaka rushed forward to gnaw Chitragriva’s bonds first, but the noble king refused: 'No, faithful brother! First sever the cords binding my terrified subjects; leave my chains for the very last. A sovereign’s sacred duty is to secure his people’s freedom before attending to his own.' Stirred by this supreme selflessness, Hiranyaka worked his razor-sharp teeth with feverish speed, severing every knot until every bird stepped out unharmed. Falling before their king, the flock wept in reverence. The tale remains an enduring testament: unified action shatters the heaviest nets, and righteous leadership lights the path to life.
