आदर्श विद्या मंदिर के विशाल खेल प्रांगण में हर शुक्रवार की दोपहर खेलकूद का विशेष कालांश (स्पोर्ट्स पीरियड) होता था। सातवीं कक्षा के विद्यार्थियों का सबसे पसंदीदा खेल था 'सर्कल डॉजबॉल' (घेरा गेंद-फेक खेल)। इसमें मैदान पर चाक से एक बड़ा गोल घेरा बनाया जाता था, जिसमें कुछ खिलाड़ी अंदर रहते थे और बाकी खिलाड़ी बाहर से तेज गति से सॉफ्टबॉल फेंककर अंदर वालों को आउट करने का प्रयास करते थे। इस खेल में बहुत तेजी से भागना, उछलना और कलाबाजियाँ खाना पड़ता था। कक्षा की सभी टोलियाँ अपनी-अपनी टीम बनाकर पूरे उत्साह से मैदान में उतरती थीं।

Every Friday afternoon, the expansive sports courtyard of Adarsh Vidya Mandir buzzed with excitement during the games period. Class 7\'s unanimous favorite pastime was 'Circle Dodgeball.' A massive chalk circle was sketched on the courtyard tiles; one squad dodged inside the ring while the opposing squad circled the exterior, hurling soft rubber balls to tag runners out. The traditional format demanded high agility, leaping, and lightning sprints. Every clique in the grade drafted teams, cheering passionately as whistle blasts initiated each match.

Yet every Friday, she was relegated to a solitary wooden bench beneath the gulmohar tree, handed a dry-erase clipboard, and patted on the head: 'Tanvi, you are our wonderful scorekeeper!' Tanvi would force a polite smile, but watching her peers dash, dive, and high-five on the court, an ache pierced her heart. She did not want to merely tally other people\'s points; she wanted to play!

एक दिन टीम के नए कप्तान देव ने देखा कि खेल के दौरान जब गेंद उछलकर बेंच के पास गई, तो तन्वी ने एक ही हाथ से इतनी फुर्ती और सटीकता के साथ गेंद को लपका कि देव दंग रह गया। तन्वी की दोनों बाजुएं व्हीलचेयर चलाने के कारण बहुत मजबूत थीं और उसकी नजर बाज की तरह तेज थी। खेल खत्म होने के बाद जब सब पानी पी रहे थे, तो देव ने तन्वी की आँखों में वही उदासी देखी। देव सीधे तन्वी के पास गया और पूछा—'तन्वी, तुम सच बताओ, क्या तुम्हें स्कोरकीपर बनना पसंद है?' तन्वी की आँखों में आँसू आ गए। उसने कहा—'देव, मुझे दूसरों की जीत-हार गिनने में कोई खुशी नहीं मिलती। मैं भी अपनी ताकत आजमाना चाहती हूँ। लेकिन तुम्हारे खेल के नियम यह मान लेते हैं कि दुनिया में हर इंसान केवल अपने पैरों से ही दौड़ सकता है।'

One afternoon, team captain Dev witnessed something remarkable: a stray ball ricocheted toward the bench, and Tanvi caught it with lightning reflexes in a single hand, spinning her chair gracefully. Pushing her wheelchair daily had endowed Tanvi with immense upper-body strength and laser-sharp hand-eye coordination. We boast that our team stands for fairness, yet how can a game be fair when it shuts out a classmate simply because she rolls instead of runs? Guided by Tanvi, the team codified three innovative rules: First, a wide, smooth 'rolling corridor' was designated within the circle where a wheelchair could pivot and accelerate freely. Second, target tags were restricted strictly below the waist, and ball deflections off the wheels counted as live catches rather than eliminations. Third, Tanvi was empowered to execute tactical 'reverse-tags' with precision passes. When the modified match commenced, the courtyard witnessed fireworks! Tanvi pivoted her wheelchair with breathtaking speed, ducking, spinning, and launching rocket-fast passes with her muscular arms that tagged out seasoned sprinters one after another! The game did not lose its thrill; it became three times more electric, strategic, and intense!

मैदान के बाहर खड़े खेल-शिक्षक और अन्य कक्षाओं के बच्चे तालियाँ बजा-बजाकर तन्वी का नाम पुकारने लगे। मैच के अंत में जब तन्वी की टीम ने ऐतिहासिक जीत दर्ज की, तो सारे साथियों ने तन्वी को घेर लिया और विजय का जश्न मनाया। तन्वी का चेहरा पसीने से भीगा हुआ था, परंतु उसकी आँखों में वह गौरव और स्वाभिमान चमक रहा था जो किसी स्कोरबोर्ड पर कभी नहीं मिल सकता था। रोहन ने तन्वी से हाथ मिलाकर कहा—'तन्वी, तुम हमारी सबसे खतरनाक खिलाड़ी हो! नियम बदलकर हमने तुम पर कोई अहसान नहीं किया, बल्कि हमारे खेल को असली पहचान मिली है।' उस दिन पूरे विद्यालय ने सीखा कि सच्ची समानता का अर्थ यह नहीं है कि हम सबको एक ही लाठी से हाँकें; सच्ची निष्पक्षता यह है कि हम हर व्यक्ति की क्षमता का सम्मान करते हुए व्यवस्था में ऐसा बदलाव लाएं जिससे कोई भी पीछे न छूटे।

Spectators, teachers, and students from other classes gathered along the railing, roaring in astonishment and chanting Tanvi's name. When the final whistle blew and Tanvi's squad clinched an exhilarating victory, teammates mobbed her chair with euphoric cheers. Tanvi's face was flushed with sweat, but her eyes radiated a fierce, triumphant self-worth that no clipboard could ever bestow.
