🌟 Moral of the Story
"Patience, observation, and experimentation can solve difficult problems."

The blazing sun of midsummer turned the baked earth into an inferno. Forest rivulets, ponds, and shallow wells had evaporated into cracked clay. Every creature of the wilderness gasped for a solitary drop of moisture. In this harrowing drought, Meghavarna, a veteran crow renowned for keen observation and patience, traversed the scorched horizon in search of water. His throat burned like glowing embers, his wings weighed like lead, and dizziness clouded his vision. He knew with dreadful clarity that without water before nightfall, his journey through life would reach its end.

Gliding over an overgrown, deserted walled orchard, his sharp black eyes spotted an earthenware pitcher resting in the shade of a ruined colonnade. A spark of hope reignited his failing strength. Meghavarna swooped down, alighting eagerly upon the earthen rim. Peering down the narrow throat of the vessel, his heart leaped—there was genuine, cool water at the bottom! Yet his joy plummeted into despair; the water level was barely an inch deep, trapped far beneath the long, slender neck. Straining his neck to the utmost, his beak fell tantalizingly short of the glistening surface. Water was within his sight, yet utterly beyond his grasp.

Desperate to survive, he braced his talons and threw his full weight against the clay flank, hoping to topple the vessel and drink from the spill. But the heavy pitcher, firmly wedged in hardened loam, did not budge an inch. Next, he hammered his beak against the clay wall, attempting to fracture it, but the kiln-fired pottery was unyielding, merely jarring his skull. An ordinary creature would have surrendered to panic or exhausted collapse; but Meghavarna anchored his mind in calm discernment. Whispering to his spirit, he reasoned: 'Frantic thrashing will only hasten death; every locked door has an intellectual key.'

Surveying the surroundings with methodical clarity, Meghavarna noticed piles of smooth river gravel and small pebbles lining an adjacent footpath. Looking from the gravel to the pitcher, an intuitive flash of natural science struck his mind: 'If solid matter enters the vessel, its mass must displace the liquid, forcing the subterranean water upward!' It was the timeless principle of volumetric displacement. Without squandering a single breath in hesitation, Meghavarna embarked upon his calculated endeavor.

Clamping a pebble in his beak, he fluttered to the pitcher's rim and dropped it inside with a resonant 'plop!' Immediately he flew back, retrieved another, and dropped it. Then a third, a tenth, a twentieth... Exhaustion wracked his frail limbs, the blistering heat scorched his back, and thirst clawed at his throat. Each sortie demanded immense physical exertion, yet his focus remained unbreakable. Gradually, the silent physics unfolded: as stone displaced space, the water level crept upward millimeter by millimeter. After dropping scores of pebbles, the refreshing liquid crested the rim.

Bending his head, Meghavarna dipped his beak into the brimful jar. The cool water tasted sweeter than celestial nectar. He drank deeply until his parched body was revitalized, splashed water over his fevered feathers, and felt the surge of renewed life pulsing through his veins. Glancing at the sky with serene gratitude, he took wing, uttering a resonant cry of triumph as he soared into the leafy green woods. The fable endures as a profound beacon: when resources are meager, the combination of patient observation, steady persistence, and sharp reason turns the impossible into absolute victory.
